A jawless fish, the Atlantic Hagfish (Myxine glutinosa) is found in deep oceans.

Found up to depths 4,000 feet down, this species reaches 32 inches in length. This species has a body which, when disturbed, releases a sticky substance which protects it from predators. Known to "sneeze" when the nostrils fill with slime, the slime is unlike any other slime produced by an animal, and are strong and difficult to remove. When it wants to free itself from the "slime cocoon", it will tie a know with it's body, and wipe the slime off.

This species is rather similar to an eel in appearance, though is not related to it.
